Ann Marie Cleary

Ann Marie Cleary, beloved aunt and cousin, passed away April 19, 2016 at age 88. Ann was born May 15, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Grand Island. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. The Catholic Daughters of America, of which she was a member, will lead a rosary at 9:30 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. All services will be at St. Marys Cathedral, 112 S. Cedar, Grand Island, Nebraska. Interment will be at Grand Island Cemetery.

Ann was retired for many years but her employment in Grand Island included International Harvester, General Telephone, New Holland, and finally as a caseworker for the Hall County Welfare Office. She enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and bowling on a regular basis, as well as exercising her dog. Ann was a graduate of St. Mary Catholic Grade School in Grand Island, Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City, MO, and received her Bachelors degree from Duchesne Academy in Omaha, NE.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Marie (Rourke) Cleary, her brothers James (Eloise), John (Alice), and Francis, and one nephew Joseph (Jeannie). She is survived by twelve nieces and nephews, and two cousins. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Grand Island Humane Society or to Grand Island Central Catholic High School in her name.
