Alta "Dot" Maxine Blackburn

Alta Maxine Blackburn, 85 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, May 25, 2016.



Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. A Private Burial of Ashes will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.



Alta was born on December 16, 1930 in Grand Island to Warren and Mable (McMullen) Davis. She grew up in Grand Island and Omaha. She was united in marriage to Richard Blackburn, Sr. on August 17, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The couple lived in Omaha where she was a homemaker. She also lived in Fremont, NE, Des Moines, IA, Cheyenne, WY, and Grand Island .



She was raised in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and also enjoyed traveling.



Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Gerold Leuhrs of Seward, Janice Rise of Pueblo West, CO, and Jayne and Rod Haith of Utica; sister-in-law, Lilly Ann Sedlak and Vivian Davis; 6 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews.



Alta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Alice Gosda and Alberta Smith; brothers, Albert, Alden, and Alfred; half-brother, Eddie; son, Richard Blackburn, Jr.; and granddaughter, Candice Luehrs.
