Hastings resident, Agnes Cromer, 86, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata; NE. Visitation will be Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Agnes was born April 16, 1924 to Christ and Christine (Ernst) Janke in Danzig, North Dakota. She attended school at Valley City, Vashti and Goldwin, North Dakota. On December 11, 1944 she married Shugart L. Conklin, 4 boys were born to this union, they later divorced. They lived in Peace Valley, MO and Jamestown, ND. She worked as a nurses aide at Trinity Hospital in Jamestown, ND. The family moved to Exeter, NE in 1968 and she did home health care for many years. On July 13, 1979 she married Harold H. Cromer in Forest City, MO. They moved to Mound City, MO in 1984 and lived there until October 1990; they then moved to Hastings, NE and lived at Good Samaritan Village. She attended the Juniata Community Church in Juniata, NE. She was a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary # 6 in St. Joseph, MO, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary #1346 in Hastings, NE. Agnes enjoyed being a homemaker and a seamstress. She is survived by 3 sons, Douglas Conklin and wife Marilyn, Grant Conklin and wife Barbara and Jerome Conklin and wife Linda, all of Juniata, NE. 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Daughter-in-law, Debra Conklin of Omaha, NE, and 1 sister, Alma Halle of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, 1 son, Joel Conklin, and 2 brothers, Edwin Janke and Rueben Janke. Memorials may be given to donors choice.
