Wayne T. Peper

Hastings resident, Wayne T. Peper, 70, passed away September 15, 2018 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.



Funeral services will be Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 2pm at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Dustin Bower officiating. With Military rites by Veterans Services of Hastings. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 1:30-7:30pm with the family present from 5:30-7:30 and a family rosary to follow at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Burial will be at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the family to designate at a later date.



Wayne was born August 3, 1948 to Clarence and Alice (Brockman) Peper in Nelson, Nebraska. He received his education from Hastings St. Cecelia’s and graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1966. Wayne went into the United States Army in February 11, 1969 and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1971. He married Marilyn Jurgena in Hastings on January 30, 1987. Wayne worked for the Hastings Street Department for 24 years. In 2014, he retired from the Hastings Street Department.



He enjoyed fishing, playing billiards, and going to auctions to find the “bargains”.



Wayne is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Hastings, NE, Twin daughters Lisa (Trevor) Spellman of Kearney, NE and Laura (Luke) Schenk of Hastings, NE and two daughters Jen Dinkler (Ryan Horiuchi) of Hastings, NE and Jessica (Doug) Dierfeldt of Kearney, NE, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Six brothers, Darrell (Sue) of Colorado, Larry (Iris) of Omaha, NE, Bob (Sue) of Arizona, Marvin (Marsha) of California, Kenneth (Connie) of Hastings, NE and Ron (Jody) of Colorado. One sister; Kathy (Steve) Kloppenborg of Omaha, NE. Brother in law; Gary Ingram of Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.



He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Jean Ingram.
