Heartwell resident, Verlun Johansen, 76, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, NE. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 11 AM at the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE with Rev. Gregory Volske officiating. Book signing will be Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 9 AM to 9 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to the family. Verlun was born March 18, 1935 to Edmund and Freda (Miller) Johansen in Norman, NE. He graduated from Kenesaw High School in Kenesaw, NE. He married Shirley Edmondson on January 31, 1954. He lived in the Kenesaw and Heartwell area all his life. He worked as a truck driver until retiring for the Juniata Feed Yard in Juniata, NE. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Heartwell, NE, three daughters, Terrie Johansen and Kari Love of Omaha, NE, Marcy Burr and husband Mark of Juniata, NE, and Jenny Hill and husband Jason of Roca, NE, one daughter-in-law, Janell Patrick of Hastings, NE. Seven grandchildren, Trevor Johansen, Brandon Johansen, Kaitlin Johansen, Whitney Burr, Kelsey Brisbin and husband Jamie, Justin Burr and Sophie Hill and one sister LaVonne Fries and husband Dennis of Kearney, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kent Johansen, one granddaughter, Ashton Burr and one sister, Joyce Coon.
