Juniata resident, Vera L. Kennedy, 92, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Kenesaw Haven Home, Kenesaw, NE. Services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2 pm at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, NE with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 9 am to 8 pm at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Memorials may be given to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Kenesaw, NE. Vera was born October 2, 1920 on a farm north of Kenesaw, NE to William and Ida (Ziebarth) Berg. She attended St. Pauls Lutheran Parochial School, 1st through 7th grades. She tested out of the 8th grade allowing her to skip to 9th grade at Kenesaw High School where she graduated in 1937. She began teaching in a county school at the age of 16 with a Normal Training Teaching Certificate. She later attained her B.A. in Elementary Education from Hastings College. Her 40 year teaching career included Trumbull School, Tri-View District #33 and Wallace-District #60. She married Virgil Kennedy on December 24, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Grand Island, NE. She was a lifelong member of the Kenesaw St. Pauls Lutheran Church, HARTA Retired Teachers Association, NEA and past member of the Adams County Education Association. She is survived by one son, Randy Kennedy, one daughter, Vicki Weseman and one grandson, Jason Weseman, all of Juniata, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Erna Fischer and Elva Augustin and one brother, Herbert Berg.
