Thelma L. Sole

Hastings resident, Thelma Lillian Sole, 96 passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Village, Perkins Pavilion, in Hastings.



Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17th at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with Reverend Dr. William Nottage-Tacey of the First United Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church or the Hastings Public Library in her memory.



Thelma was born May 15, 1918 to Peter C. and Maude (Stephens) Toews in Stockham, NE. She graduated from Hastings High school in 1935 and from Hastings College in 1939 and attended the University of Nebraska for one year. Thelma taught school at Union, Phillips and Mascot in Nebraska. Thelma became a librarians assistant in July of 1948 at the Hastings Public Library and retired in 1985. She was also the Secretary at the House of Yesterday Museum for three years.



She married Franklin O. Huls in 1942. Franklin passed away in 1970. She married Bill Sole in 1971. Bill passed away in 1991.



She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hastings and was a member of the Degree of Honor Association. Thelma volunteered in the Arts Department at Hastings College and the Hastings Regional Center Libraries.



She is survived by her nephew Rick Waltemath, Sr. and wife Phyllis of Hastings and their families.



She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands, Franklin and Bill.
