Terrance "Jake" Jakubowski

February 23, 1944 — January 25, 2019

Terrance ‘Jake’ Jakubowski, 74 of Grand Island died Friday, January 25, 2019 at his home in Grand Island.



Services will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



Terry ‘Jake’ Jakubowski was born on February 23, 1944 at home in Loup City, Nebraska. Terry grew up in Ashton before moving to Grand Island at the age of 12. He graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic High School. Terry enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1965. He served during the Korean War earning the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1967.



Terry was united in marriage to Judy Clements on October 29, 1968 at Grand Island. Terry lived in Grand Island where he was employed at Barnes Masonry and also was self employed in the masonry industry.



Terry was a member of the Platt Duetsche, and the American Legion.



Terry hobbies included golf, fishing and camping, he enjoyed attending his families events over the years but he especially enjoyed his time with his buddies, the joking and laughter with his close friends.



Survivors include a special friend Lyn Bloodgood, son Michael and Melissa Jakubowski of Grand Island, daughter Brenda Thompson of Lincoln, three grandchildren, Kellie Muller, Taylor Jakubowski and Landyn Thompson, one great grandson, Phoenix Pickinpaugh, brother Chuck and Dorleen Jakubowski of Grand Island, sister Joan and Dick Lewandowski of Grand Island, step daughter Traci McCoy, step son Robert Bloodgood, step grandchildren, David, Dani, and Tommy McCoy, Zachary, Angel, Wyatt, Garrett and Gage Bloodgood.



Terry was preceded in death by his parents, a son Steve, grandson Kameryn, brothers Robert, Tom, and Jerry, an infant sister, and a step-son Scott Nanos.
