Susan J. Tourney

Susan J. Tourney, 61 of Shelton died Monday, December 23, 2013 at her home in Shelton.



Services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River with Rev. Bob Rhodes officiating. Interment will be at the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorials are suggested to the family.



Susan was born on August 28, 1952 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, the daughter of Dean and Geneva (Stiles) Hughes. She grew up in Bend and Klamath Falls, OR, attending school at both communities.



Susan was united in marriage to Michael Tourney on December 11, 1971 in Bend, OR. The couple moved to Gibbon in 1976 where Susan worked at Eatons in Kearney and then for Nebraska Turkey in Gibbon. The couple moved to Shelton in 1985. She went back to work at Eatons in 1993. She had been caring for her husband for the last five years until his deth on May 28, 2013.



Susan enjoyed Caf World on Facebook, reading, watching Days Of Our Lives, camping and especially time spent with her family.



Survivors include two sons, Ivan and Rachel Tourney of Shelton and Mickey Tourney of Shelton, daughter Tana Tourney of Shelton, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 6 brothers, Robert Hughes of Burns, OR, Jim Hughes of Burns, OR, Pat Hughes of Bend, OR, Glen Hughes of Alliance, NE, Dennis Hughes of Sisters, OR, and Danny Hughes of Bend, OR, seven sisters, Dorothy Cillis of Klamath Falls, OR, Bessie Wilson of Klamath Falls, OR, Carol Purvis of Klamath Falls, OR, Ruth Cook of Burns, OR, Grace Auzenne of Cave Junction, OR, Jane Shackleford of Burns, OR and Peggy Briley of Bend, OR, as well as several nieces and nephews.



Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael and a brother Don.
