Hastings resident, Ray G. Getz, 86, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.



Services will be Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2 pm at the 1st United Methodist Church, Hastings, with Rev. Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Sunday, April 28, 2019 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Memorials may be given to the 1st United Methodist Church, Hastings.



Ray was born September 13, 1932 to Elmer and Grace (Bowman) Getz in Davenport, NE. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1950 and then Hastings college in 1959. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. He married Dee Watts on August 16, 1969 in Hastings. He was a bookkeeper for Berts Drugs, Seberg Dental and Sophir Morris Paint all in Hastings.



Ray enjoyed Bowling and golf. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church, AD Council, Head Usher of 60 years, worship committee and the United Methodist Men. He was also a member of the Hastings Lions Club, UCT, Oasis Guild and Eagles Club all in Hastings.



He is survived by his wife Dee of Hastings, two granddaughters, Dusty Perry (David Donohoe) of Utica, NE and Sarah (Adam) Lahners of Carleton, NE, one grandson, Jesurun (Desiray) Perry of Utica, NE, five great grandchildren, Tyler Perry, Terin Donohoe, Parker Perry, Scarlett Perry and Everett Lahners.



He was preceded in death by his parents and son Kevin Perry.
