Phyllis Mary Mahloch

May 23, 1924 — April 18, 2016

Phyllis Mary Mahloch, 91, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at CHI St. Francis Health in Grand Island.



Rosary will be Wednesday April 27,2016; 9:15 am and Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:00 am at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island. Father Michael McDermott will be officiating. Interment will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island.



Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Tuesday April 26, 2016 with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to For All Generations, Resurrection Parish, Grand Island, Nebraska.



Phyllis was born on May 23, 1924 in Lawrence, Nebraska the daughter of Rollie and Mary (Schumm) Jorn. She grew up in Lawrence graduated from Lawrence High School and received her teaching certificate. She was united in marriage to Raymond Mahloch on May 22, 1951 in Lawrence, Nebraska. They moved to Grand Island in 1968. Phyllis was the Bookkeeper and Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent for Northwest High School for over 20 years, retiring in 1992.



She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She helped with funeral lunches at the church for many years. She was also a member of the Eagles Club. Her hobbies included quilting, baking, gardening, walking, and drinking coffee with friends.



Survivors include her children and their spouses, Steven and Delayne Mahloch of Overland Park, KS, Jane and Tom Bettles of Kearney, Judith and Steve Usasz of Grand Island, Mary and Logan McCall of Nashville, NC; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Thelma Marr of Hastings and Loretta Vap of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Catherine Jorn of Hastings and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Don Northrup of Storm Lake, IA.



Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Rollie and Mary Jorn: her husband Raymond Mahloch; 2 brothers, Raymond Jorn and Wilfred Jorn; and infant son, Michael.
