Former Hastings resident Oliver H. Walters, 81, of the Haven Home in Kenesaw, NE, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital; Hastings, NE. Services will be Monday, November 10, 2008 at 11 AM at the Salvation Army, Hastings, NE with Major Abe Tamayo and Rev. Trudy Hanke officiating. Burial with military rites in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Book signing will be Sunday, November 9, 2008 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Oliver was born January 28, 1927 to Floyd and Alice (Kirk) Walters in Norfolk, NE. He was in the Navy during WWII, from March 2, 1944 to June 3, 1946. He was a Custodian for Hastings Public Schools and a cook and baker. He had lived in Hastings for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Salvation Army and he also attended the Kenesaw Methodist Church, in Kenesaw, NE. He is survived by, 3 daughters, Linda Powell and husband James, Rose Beneda and Joseph, and Marsha Walters, all of Hastings, NE, 5 sons, Monte Jensen and wife Melody, Paul Walters, and Martin Walters all of Hastings, NE, Kenny Walters and wife Kathy of Huron, SD and Billy Walters and wife Rosalie of Sugarland, TX. 1 sister, Shirley Houston, of Omaha, NE, 2 brothers, Virgil Walters of Indianapolis, IN and Marvin Walters and wife Peggy of Omaha, NE and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Audrey. Memorials may be given to the family.
