Hastings resident, Norman Kennedy, 68, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Goldbeck Towers, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Friday, April 17, 2009 at 2:30 PM at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings; NE. Book signing will be Wednesday, April 15, 2009 and Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 8 AM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Norman was born June 24, 1940 to Roy and Opal (Kingrey) Kennedy in Hastings, NE. He served in the Army from June 21, 1957 to December 18, 1957 in which he returned and completed his service time in the Nebraska National Guard. He worked for Southern Power for 14 years until an illness forced an early retirement. He has lived in Hastings most of his life. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He is survived by 1 daughter, Kathy Watham and husband Gary of Hastings, NE, and 2 sons, Brian Kennedy and wife Tracy of Hastings, NE and Scott Kennedy of Greely, Colorado. 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Paige, Cindy and Kylie, 2 sisters, Dorothy Cline and husband Vern of Hastings, NE and Linda Roth and husband DeWayne of Lincoln, NE, 3 brothers, Bob Kennedy and wife Wilma and Milt Kennedy and wife Debbie all of Hastings, NE and Dean Kennedy of Deweese, NE. And many friends including, Sharon, Karen, Carrie and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters, Virginia Clutter, Gwenn Lamborn, Leila Kennedy, and Opal Watts. 3 brothers, Ray, Roy Jr, and Tim Memorials may be given to donors choice.
