Miriam Elinor Dokken

Miriam Dokken, 90, of Grand Island passed away Friday August 19, 2016 in Grand Island. Memorial Service will be Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island with Rev. Russ Anderson officiating. Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimers Association or the Trinity UMC Choir Fund. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.

Miriam Roche Dokken was born January 20, 1926 to William T. and Ella (Shull) Roche in Sulphur Springs, Iowa. Her youth was spent in the Early and Nemaha, IA areas. She married Hal Dokken in Nemaha, IA on November 27, 1946. They made their home in Storm Lake, IA; with two daughters, Cindy and Cheryl born there. In 1960, the family moved to Grand Island, NE. Hal passed away in 1980.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Tom) Hardekopf of Kearney and their children, Tyler and wife Shekie and their sons Aidan and Avery of Chattanooga, TN; Rebecca and husband Matthew Kauk and their sons, Ben and Myles of Kearney; daughter, Cheryl Morris of Santa Fe, NM, and her children, Jason Hornady and his wife Ellen of Grand Island, and their children, Abigail and Alex Hornady; daughter Meighan Hornady and her husband Patrick Hulbert; Elizabeth Hornady Ingham and her husband Will and their children Ella and Julia, all of Winchester, VA.
