Melva Leonhardt

Former Hansen resident, Melva Leonhardt, 93, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital; Hastings, NE. Services will be Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:30 at the Brand-Wilson Chapel, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull, NE. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and up till service time on Saturday. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Melva was born August 6, 1915 to Frank and Hattie (Moore) Adams in rural Hall County near Rosedale, NE. She graduated from Rosedale High School and attended Kearney College, Kearney, NE where she received her teaching certificate. She taught grade school at District 67, in Hansen, NE for several years. She married Jacob Leonhardt Jr. May 18, 1941; he passed away April 20, 1998. She lived in Hansen, NE from 1941 to 2004 before moving to Hastings, she was a former Kensington resident. Melva was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing. She is survived by 1 daughter, Jane Winroth and friend Joe of Arvada, CO, and 3 sons, Roger Leonhardt of Lincoln, NE, Lamoine Leonhardt and wife Judy, and Lyle Leonhardt all of Hastings, NE. 2 Granddaughters, Michelle Olsen and husband Todd of Grand Island, NE and Kelly ODonnell and husband Aaron of Nebraska City, NE, and 1 great grandson, Jacob. 2 brothers, John Adams of Hastings, NE and Lloyde Adams of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jacob Jr. 2 brothers, Gerald Adams and Marion Adams and 1 Grandson John Winroth. Memorials may be given to the Make a Wish Foundation or the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer.
