Marion R. Logan, 87, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Tiffany Square Care Center, Grand Island.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at United Congregational Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Lonnie Logan and Rev. Sid Bruggeman officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation hours will be fro 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to United Congregational Church, Grand Island

Mrs. Logan was born January 14, 1926 in Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of Harm and Helen (Henrich) Van Hovel. She grew up in Winnebago, Minnesota attending Winnebago High School graduating with the class of 1943. She went on to receive an Associate of Arts Degree in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Rex Logan, May 18, 1946 in Winnebago. The couple resided in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa with respect to their professional lives. She was employed as a librarian for many years and a word processor for the State of Iowa for ten years, retiring in 1991. Upon their retirement the couple relocated to Florida and later to Grand Island.

She enjoyed walking, gardening, reading and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her passion during her years as a librarian was working with children

She was a member of United Congregational Church. Marion supported cancer survivors organizations, and was a long-term survivor of cancer.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Rex of Grand Island, three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry & Peggy Logan of Los Banos, California, Lonnie & Cathy Logan of Grand Island, Lin & Kim Logan of Eatonton, Georgia, one sister & brother-in-law; Betty Lou & Maurice Messer of Red Wing, Minnesota, 11 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters, two brothers, Vance & Dale.
