Lucille M. Fuss, 86, of Grand Island died Friday, March 22, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Terry Brandenburg will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church Shalom Society (LWML) or the Altar Guild at Peace. Lucille was born March 5, 1927, at Ayr, Nebraska to Herman and Christine (Krueger) Plautz. She grew up in Ayr and Wood River, graduating from Wood River High School in 1945. She married Kenneth W. Fuss on July 22, 1951, at Wood River. They made their home in Grand Island, and Lucille worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant. She later worked for H & R Block. Lucille then went on to start her own tax preparation business, as well as working for Agricultural Services for 31 years. Lucille was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church and served as a district officer in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League. She was also a member of the Altar Guild at Peace. She enjoyed watching her grandchildrens sporting events and cherished the time she shared with her family. She especially enjoyed family reunions. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Penny Fuss of Central City; one daughter, Christine Batiste of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Frank Fuss; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Plautz and Betty Gohl; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth in 1988; daughter Barbara; two brothers, LaVerne and Carl Plautz; and one sister, Verna Ohlmann.
