Lois E. Arnett

Lois E. Arnett, 92, of Aurora, formerly of Phillips, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 29th at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Bev Lanzendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery at Phillips, Nebraska. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.

Lois Ethel Arnett was born August 11, 1922, at rural Benedict, Nebraska to Perry and Ethel (Pendell) Cudaback. The family moved when she was a child, between York and McCool Junction, Nebraska. She attended school at McCool Junction and later the family relocated southeast of Giltner. Lois graduated from Giltner High School in 1941.

Following her education, she cared for an elderly woman and then lived in Lincoln where she was employed as a secretary at the air base. She then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a secretary for the Veterans Administration.

Lois was united in marriage to Charles L. Arnett on June 13, 1943, at Grand Island, Nebraska. The couple moved to Phillips where they lived and farmed for 40 years. Mrs. Arnett worked side by side with her husband on the farm. Mr. Arnett died February 28, 1998, and Lois later moved to Grand Island where she lived until February 2008 when she entered the Hamilton Manor.

Lois attended the Phillips Methodist Church for many years and was involved with the community club and PTA. She loved music, playing the piano and keyboard. She raised many varieties of roses and thoroughly enjoyed her flower garden.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Layton and Gwen Arnett, Alan and Kathy Arnett all of Phillips; one daughter, Dorothy Benton also of Phillips; five grandchildren and their spouses/fianc, Wendell Arnett, Dee Arnett, Greg Arnett, Shana Sweeney and fianc, Leonard Logston, and Karla and Dan Beran; five great-grandchildren, Jenna Arnett, Kinsley Beran, Drue Beran, Brice Logston and Shelby Logston. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Lee, Joe and David Cudaback.
