Hastings resident, Lester A. Weber, 88, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 2 PM at the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE, with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2009 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hastings, NE and up till service time at the church Tuesday. Burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Lester was born May 24, 1920 to H.B. and Emma (Busch) Weber in Sterling, NE. He served in the US Army during WWII, from December 4, 1942 to November 26, 1945. He married Merna Baker and they later divorced, he married Dora Shottenkirk later. He worked various jobs in Beatrice, NE. He has lived in the Hastings area for 13 years moving here from Beatrice, NE. He was a member of the First St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Hastings, NE, and the American Legion Club in Beatrice, NE. He is survived by son Eugene Weber of Wisner, NE, son-in-law, Richard Fischer of Hastings, NE, daughter-in-law, Ruth Shottenkirk of Lincoln, NE, 2 sisters, LaVerna Klein and Marjorie Ann VanEngen both of Adams, NE, 4 brothers, Orville Weber and Arthur Weber, both of Adams, NE, Calvin Weber of Wymore, NE, and Dale Weber of Lincoln, NE, 5 granddaughters, Kristi Hessling of Lincoln, NE, Deanna Thaut and Penny Snell both of Hastings, NE, Hope Weber and Lacey Weber . 4 grandsons, Scott Shottenkirk of Lincoln, NE, Bill Shottenkirk of Lincoln, NE, Richard (Butch) Fischer, of Hastings, NE, and Scott Weber. 10 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dora, a son, Wayne Shottenkirk, a daughter, Frances Fischer, 4 sisters, Ella Weber, Gertrude Dissmeyer, Bertha Schmidt, and Lena Weber, and 7 brothers, John Weber, Chris Weber, Rolly Weber, Harold Weber, Martin Weber, Earl Weber and Lyle Weber. Memorials may be given to the family.
