Hastings resident, Laura E. Lamphiear, 81, of 142 Barnes, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Services will be Friday, March 16th, 2007 at 10:30 Am at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Mrs. Lamphiear was born January 30, 1926 to Perry and Eva (LaFee) Allsup in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduation she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. She married Glen O. Lamphiear, October 11, 1946. Mrs. Lamphiear was co-founder of the Lamphiear Construction Company with her husband and worked in many capacities including vice president, office manager and secretary until retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church, life member of the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as Auxiliary President, a member of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #39, Daughters of the Nile, and member and chairman of the Shrine Auxiliary all of Hastings, NE. Laura was a gracious homemaker, wonderful mother, loving wife and companion to Glen. She was well known for her cooking skills and sense of humor. Laura enjoyed many hobbies, including her cooking, sewing, crafts, camping, especially participating in Moble Noble camping activities, and traveling. She traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and the Panama Canal. She is survived by, her husband Glen, 3 daughters, Dianne Hopkins, Karen Hohlen and husband Roger, all of Hastings, NE, Denise Newton and husband Rich of North Platte, NE, and 1 son, Greg Lamphiear and wife Becky of Boelus, NE. 11 grandchildren, Jim Hopkins, of Lincoln, NE, John Hopkins of Cheyenne, WY, Robert Hohlen of Grand Island, NE, Bill Hohlen of Grand Island, NE, Doug Hohlen of Hastings, NE, Sarah Quandt of Grand Island, Geoff Lamphiear of Ravenna, NE, Grady Lamphiear of Boelus, NE, Mike Newton, Phoenix, AZ, David Newton, of Omaha, NE, and Lindsay Newton of Omaha, NE. 5 great-grandchildren and 1 brother, Bob Allsup, Sterling, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen Allsup and sister Donna Johnson. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church or the Tehama Shrine Childrens Transportation Fund.
