Lafayette Reed

Lafayette Reed, 79 of Grand Island, died Wednesday, July 15, 2017 at the Genoa Community Hospital Long Term Care in Genoa, Nebraska.



Graveside Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Derek Apfel CFC will be officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home prior to the procession to the cemetery.



Lafayette was born on May 2, 1938 in Central City, Nebraska to Frank and Leona (Smith) Reed. He attended the Nebraska School for the Deaf from 1945-1953. He lived at the Beatrice State Home from 1953-1971. He lived in Grand Island since 1971 and worked at Driesbachs as a dishwasher. He retired in 1991.



He was survived by close friends and acquaintances.



He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
