Kenneth "'Kenny'" J. Perkins

Kenneth D. Kenny Perkins, 75 of Grand Island, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at CHI Health, St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at Apfel Funeral Home with the Rev. Russ Anderson officiating. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be at a later date in Grand Island City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Central Nebraska Humane Society. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Kenneth Dwight Perkins was born November 9, 1940 in Grand Island, Nebraska the son of Francis S. & Ethel (Van Bibber) Perkins. He grew up in Grand Island receiving his education from Grand Island Senior High, graduating with the class of 1958.

He entered the United States Army in 1958 and served in Germany for close to two years before he as honorably discharged in 1961.

He was united in marriage to Susanne Brown November 23, 1961, in Grand Island, NE. The couple made their home in Grand Island where Kenneth was in the tool crib & press & shear departments at Ford New Holland for 30 years retiring in 1998. After retiring he worked for Grand Island Public Schools as a custodian for Barr Junior High.

He was a member of the Methodist Church. Kenneth enjoyed horse racing, bowling and gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Susanne Perkins of Grand Island, three sons, Kenneth Darrel Perkins of Minden, NE, Kurt Douglas Perkins of Grand Island, NE, and Kelly D. Perkins of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles Albert Perkins, Francis Perkins Jr., and Jimmy Dean Perkins, two sisters, Maude Walters and Patty Calvo.
