Kate Rogan

Kate Rogan, 86, of Grand Island died Friday, January 3, 2014, at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at the Apfel Funeral Home. Chaplain Michael Koenig will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Kate was born March 23, 1927, at Decatur County, Iowa to Benjamin and Oria (Zornes) Smith.

She grew up and attended school in Marquette, Nebraska.

Kate married Harry L. Rogan on February 21, 1945, at Grand Island. The couple made their home in Grand Island. Kate worked as a cook at Kaufmanns and later at USA Steak Buffet.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Harry Jr. and Rosalee Rogan of Harvard, NE; one daughter, Kathy Rogan of Grand Island; a son-in-law, Ron Emery of Schertz, TX; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2005; her parents; her daughter, Darlene Emery; four brothers and three sisters.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
