Joyce Ann Schultz, 81 of Wood River, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.



Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island. Memorial service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 20, 2015 at Apfel Funeral Home with Derek Apfel officiating. To honor Joyces wishes, cremation has taken place with a private inurnment following at Grand Island Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Wood River Fire and Rescue in lieu of flowers. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Joyce Ann Schultz was born March 15, 1934 in rural St. Paul, Nebraska and was the daughter of Charles & Frieda R. (Dobish) Muller. She grew up in the St. Paul area, attending Howard County, District 15 school through 8th grade and then graduating from St. Paul High School with the class of 1952. After graduating she was employed as a secretary at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant, became a teller at Fonner Park for a few years and then worked as a part-time replacement Post Master at the Alda Post Office for 17 years. She married Wilbert E. Schultz, February 19, 1955 in Wood River, Nebraska. They spent the first 2 years of their marriage in Grand Island and 58 years on the Schultz family farm 5 miles east of Wood River. During that time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, reading, walks to the creek, gambling, and attending the horse races at Fonner Park. She was also an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Wood River.

Her five sons and daughters-in-law: Ron & Dorothy Schultz of Wood River; Randy & Kathy Schultz of St. Paul; Gregg & Shirley Schultz of Grand Island; Doug & Barbara Schultz of Grand Island; and Ted & Sonya Schultz of Wood River.

Her one daughter and son-in-law: Kathy & Loren Kleier of Trumbull, Nebraska.

Her eleven grandchildren: Chad and Tyler Schultz of Ron & Dorothy; Samantha and Nickolas Schultz of Randy Madison Schultz of Gregg & Shirley; Shelby & fianc Judd Allan, Carson and Kyle Schultz of Ted Derek & wife Allison, Shane and Ryan Kleier of Kathy & Loren.

Her one great-grandchild: Aubriella Stahl of Samantha Schultz.



She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Frieda Muller; her brothers, Charles, Albert, John and Ernest Muller; her sister, Frieda Lucht; infant son, Gary Schultz; and granddaughter, Paige Leslie Schultz of Ted & Sonya.
