John Henry Woodward

Hastings resident, John Henry Woodward, 82, passed away, Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings – Village.



Private family memorial service will be held with, Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the family to be designated at a later date.



John was born June 3, 1936 to Arlo and Alma Marie (Gartner) Woodward in Hastings, NE. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1954. He served in the United States Army Reserves from June 22, 1957 to March 19, 1963. He married Florence E. Weis on April 24, 1976 in Hastings. John partnered and operated Woodward’s Disposal, retiring in 1997.



John was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings. He enjoyed bowling and traveling in the motor home, John and Florence had traveled to almost every state. John was a car buff and admired antique cars.



John is survived by three sons, Danny G. (Tawnya) Woodward of Hastings, Bradley R. (Donna) Woodward of Hastings and Doyle J. (Kirsten) Woodward of New Jersey, two step daughters, Debra (Lonnie) Whitten of Doniphan and Dara (Mike) Brown of Hastings, one step son, Terry (Sandra) Krueger of Hastings, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, two brothers, Marvin (Sandra) Woodward of Hastings and Leslie (Teresa) Woodward of Doniphan and one sister Donna (Mike) Crosier of Madison, NE.



He was preceded in death by his parents and one step daughter, Diana Krueger.
