Joanne Kay "Jody" Craig

Juniata resident, JoAnne “Jody” Kay Craig, 48 passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings.



Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 10:30 am at the Zion Wanda Lutheran Church, rural Juniata with Pastor Harold King officiating. There will be no visitation, Jody’s wishes were to be cremated. Burial will be in the Zion Wanda Churchyard Cemetery with military rites. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in care of the family.



Memorials may be given to the family to be established at a later date.



Jody was born January 1, 1970 to Gary and Gwen (Dornhoff) Jacobitz in Minden, NE. She graduated from Kenesaw Public School in 1988 then attended Hastings Central Community College receiving her associates degree in 2002. She graduated from the Police Academy, September 18, 2003. Jody served in the United States Air Force from August 21, 1992 to March 29, 2000. She married Jamie Craig August 17, 2001 at the Zion Wanda Lutheran Church, rural Juniata. Jody was a detective for the Hastings Police Department, retiring in 2017 for health reasons.



She loved spending time with her grandkids and family and enjoyed, traveling, gardening, reading and mission work.



Jody is survived by her husband Jamie of Juniata, daughter, Jessica Struss (Frisco Pfiester) two granddaughters, Lyllian Struss and Claire Struss, of Howells, stepdaughter and Taylor Craig of Lincoln, her parents, Gary and Gwen Jacobitz of Kenesaw, two brothers, Curt Jacobitz of Kenesaw and Russ (Molly) Jacobitz of Grand Island, one sister, Sally (Mike) Doht of Colorado, parents-in-law, Tommy and Jenneth Brown of Hastings, two brothers in law, Tim (Tammy) Craig of Hastings and Kevin (Hiliary) O’Neil from Kearney, one sister in law, Lisa (Josh) Marcus of Florida and many nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
