Jim Clark

December 13, 1945 — February 3, 2018

Jim Clark, 72, of Grand Island died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at his home surrounded by family and friends. Memorial service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Kelly Karges will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church or the Grace Foundation.

Jim was born December 13, 1945, in Grand Island to Cecil and Lena (Fines) Clark. He grew up on a farm Southwest of Grand Island and attended District 3 School. In 1965, Jim graduated from Northwest High School, and then attended Milford Technical School for welding.

On August 1965, Jim was united in marriage to Kenna Day. He married Linda Purdie on June 29, 1975. The couple lived in Grand Island. Jim worked at various jobs including: The Army Ammunition Plant, Grand Island Elevator, Western Ag, owner and operator of JCs Small Engine Sales and Service, and then part-time at Orscheln.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Eagles FOE Aerie 378, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering and repairing small engines. Jim was always full of jokes and stories. He was also known by the names: JC, the Mower Man, Ichobod, and Not Late for Supper.

Jim is survived by wife: Linda Clark of Grand Island; children: Rodney (Karen Gibson) Clark of Grand Island, Troy Day of Elgin, TX, Les (Sharon Wood) Millspaugh of Grand Island, Loren (Gwen) Millspaugh of Northglenn, CO; grandson: Christopher Clark; sisters-in-law: Kathy (Bill) Roeder of Superior, NE, Jody Purdie of Grand Island; brothers-in-law: Steve (Jan) Purdie of Grand Island, Ron (Joyce) Purdie of Derby, KS, James Jameson of Denver, CO; cousins: Gary (Terry) Phillips of Huachuca City, AZ, Patty (Byron) Waller of Slidell, LA, Bob (Patsy Culp) Fines of Plainview, TX, Donna Inness of Central City, NE; nieces and nephews; and his two special boys: Lucky and Chance.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather: Oliver Pierce; sister-in-law: Marlene Guardiola, brothers-in-law: Gary Purdie and Mark Purdie, and mother-in-law: Margaret Kempf.
