'Janie' Jane Anderson

March 9, 1935 — December 31, 2016

A. Jane Janie Anderson, 81, of Grand Island died Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Wedgwood Care Center in Grand Island.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Apfel Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. In honoring Janies wishes, cremation has taken place.

A. Jane Janie Anderson was born March 9, 1935, at St. Paul, Nebraska to Charles V. and S. Alice (Riness) Linson. She lived with her family in Elba, Nebraska until age 4 when the family moved to California.

Janie grew up and received her education in California graduating from Van Nuys High School in 1953.

Janie met Charles Charlie Anderson and they married on September 17, 1955, in North Hollywood, CA.

The couple moved back to Nebraska in 1959, settling near Scotia. They later moved to Grand Island in 1992.

Janie attended the Evangelical Free Church and had a heart for helping others whether it was through volunteering at Boys Town or crocheting lap robes for nursing homes. She touched many lives with her acts of genuine concern for people. Janies love for people ran deep.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Anderson of Grand Island; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Ginny Anderson of Hastings, NE and Daniel Anderson of Houston, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Pat Mason of Grand Island; three grandchildren, Blake Anderson, Chelsey Edwards and Alicia Wiese; and two great-granddaughters, Ava Wiese and Athena Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
