Hastings resident, Helen Marie (Barnes) Dillon, 90, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Private family services will be Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Brand-Wilson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Hastings, NE with Todd Trausch officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. Book signing will be Friday, May 8, 2009 from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Helen was born October 9, 1918 to John and Leona (Harlan) Barnes in Bedford, Iowa. She graduated and later taught school at the Smith Center High School, in Smith Center Kansas. She married Wilbur Dillon on July 31, 1945. They moved to Hastings in 1953 then to Juniata, NE in 1958. She attended Beauty School in Hastings, NE. She sold Avon for many years and worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and Mode-O-Day both in Hastings, NE. In 1998 they moved to Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village and in 2001 Helen moved to Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Helen was a member of the Juniata Methodist Church, in Juniata, NE. She enjoyed sewing. She is survived by her husband Wilbur of Hastings, NE, 3 daughters, Margaret Trausch and husband Gary of Juniata, NE, Colleen Dillon of Olathe, Kansas, and Peggy Dillon and husband Jack Shadley of Lincoln NE and 1 son, Mike Dillon of Hastings NE. 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 daughter, Mary Lou, 1 infant son, Ronnie and 2 sisters. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
