Gibbon resident, Frank H. Eddy, 93, passed away Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Gibbon Good Samaritan Center, in Gibbon, NE. Services will be Monday, November 22, 2010 at 1 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Kenesaw, NE, with Brad Jepson officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Frank was born September 12, 1917 to Perry and Odelia (Brown) Eddy in Lubbock, Texas. The family farmed and ranched near Petersburg, TX. In 1933 they moved to Gibbon Shelton, NE area where the family farmed. Frank attended the County Line grade school in the Petersburg, TX area and then attended school in Gibbon, NE through the 8th grade. On January 22, 1943 Frank married Fern Blue. They lived in Denman, NE for 58 years. Frank worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until he was called into the service. He served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. His occupational assignment was field artillery, truck driver and heavy auto mechanic. He received a safe drivers award for his skill in driving. After returning from the service, Frank went back to work for the Union Pacific Railroad and worked for them 38 years, retiring in 1978. Frank enjoyed gardening and farming. He also did a lot of mechanic work; His other hobbies were music and traveling. Frank moved to the Gibbon Assisted Living in April of 2002, and was a resident there for 8 years. Then he resided at the Gibbon Good Samaritan Center since June of this year. He is survived by his four children, Diana Dieken of Hastings, NE, Gene Eddy of Denman, NE, Coleen Schutz of Elwood, NE and Mariann Dikmanas of LaVista, NE, 9 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, and one brother Dale Eddy of Grand Island, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Fern, one granddaughter, three sisters and one brother. Memorials may be given to the familys choice.
