At our Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home location, Kenesaw, NE. Holstein resident, Eugene Charles Gentert, 57, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, NE. Rosary will be Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 7:30 PM at St. Cecilias Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, March 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Cecilias Catholic Church, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Friday, March 19, 2010 and Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 12 noon to 9 PM and Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 12 noon to 4:30 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE. Gene was born November 2, 1952 to Charles and Marie Gentert in Hastings, NE. He was the 4th of 6 children and the only son. He grew up in the Holstein area and attended school there, graduating from Adams Central High School, Hastings, NE. He attended Central Community College receiving his mechanic degree. In 1975, he and John Hemburger built G & Js Garage in Holstein, NE. They were in the mechanics business together for 34 years, Gene retired in August of 2009. Gene loved to work, especially farming. Along with working at the shop he farmed, he always said The farm is my life, the shop is my hobby. Gene married Annette Stewart on February 23, 1989 in Franklin, NE. To this union they had two children, Charles Eugene and Michelle Ellyn. Gene was a devoted father and husband. His children were his greatest joy of life. Everything he did was wrapped around hopes for his family and their future. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Annette and daughter Michelle both of Holstein, NE. Marie and Al Jogensen, Delores Hageman, Shirley and husband Russell Klusman, Carol Dueker, Kathy and husband Maynard Johansen, Eyelyn and husband Gerald Konen, Terry and wife Sharon Jorgensen, Linda and husband Tim Bauer, Norma and John Edloff, Brent and wife Mary Stewart, Blain Stewart, Blake and wife Lynn Stewart, Angie Kats, and families. He was preceded in death by his son Charlie on May 16, 2007, his father Charles Gentert, father-in-law, Bruce Stewart, along with many grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Memorials may be made to Michelle Gentert. Thank you to numerous friends and relatives who have continuously supported us through this difficult time.
