Hastings resident, Emma Leona Heiser, 92, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Edgewood Vista in Hastings, NE. Memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Hulett, Wyoming Cemetery. No visitation. Brand-Wilson Funeral home are in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. A Memorial will be established. Emma was born on September 1, 1920 in Lingle, WY, to William and Myra (Lawrence) Nuckolls. She grew up on a ranch near Hulett, Wyoming and attended elementary school at the Barlow Canyon School. After graduating from Hulett High School in 1941 she went to Barnes School of Business in Denver, CO. During WWII she was a clerk for the United States Army which first took her to Washington DC. Later she transferred to Cincinnati, OH, because it was closer to her parents home. On one of the train trips home to Hulett, she met her future husband, Otto H. Heiser, who was in the Army. They were married in Hot Springs, SD, on May 4, 1947. To this union four children were born. They leased land for a few years around the Edgemont, SD area. In 1952 they moved to their own ranch near Oelrichs, SD. In 1992 they retired and moved to Hot Springs, SD. In 2006 Emma moved to Hastings, NE to be closer to her daughter, Jeanna. She is survived by one son, Larry Heiser of Lincoln, NE, 3 daughters, Jeanne Devries and husband Roger of Hastings, NE, Betty Maseberg and husband Tim of Thedford, NE, and Carol Deatherage and husband Lee of Hot Springs, SD, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, one sister, Lois Spaur and husband Glen of Denver, CO, and 2 brothers, Steve Nuckolls of Buffalo, WY and JW Nuckolls and wife Thea of Hulett, WY, and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Otto in 1998, 2 sisters, Eve and Wilma, one brother Bill, 2 sister-in-laws, 3 brother- in-laws, 2 nephews and a niece. Emma will be missed by everyone as she was so caring and selfless.
