Ellen F. Pittz, 80, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 26, 2013 at St. Marys Cathedral in Grand Island with Father Jonathan Sorensen officiating. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Island, NE. Visitation hours will be 4-7 P.M. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorials are suggested to Crane Meadows, Good Samaritan, Grand Island, NE. Ellen Fay Pittz was born January 3, 1933 in Greeley, Nebraska the daughter of Michael and Alice (Schenck) Gannon. She grew up in Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School. She was united in marriage to Peter Bud Pittz on January 7, 1956 in Grand Island. The couple resided in Grand Island where she was a homemaker and self-employed beautician. She was a member of St. Marys Cathedral. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes. Ellen and Bud enjoyed traveling. Survivors include her sons, Mike Pittz and his girlfriend, Deborah McGinn of Lincoln, NE and Marty Pittz and his wife, Leesa of Juniata, NE, three grandchildren:, Josh Pittz and his girlfriend, Heather Kaestner of Prosser, NE, Jessica and her husband, Andy Gregg of Hastings, NE, and Becky and her husband, David Myers of Lincoln, NE; five great-grandchildren; MaKenna Gregg, Rilynn Gregg, Icis Myers, Tristen Myers and Caitlin Myers brother, George Gannon of California; and sister, Helen Carter of Papillion, NE.
