Dorothy R. Jacobsen

Former Juniata resident, Dorothy R. Jacobsen, 87, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, NE. Funeral rite will be Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 10 am at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE, with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, NE. Book signing will be Monday, December 27, 2010 from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Dorothy was born August 27, 1923, to Joseph and Edith (Sekora) Kucera in Lawrence, NE. She graduated from the Lawrence High School in 1940 and moved to Hastings, NE, and went to college to become a licensed Cosmetologist. Dorothy worked as a beautician for over 13 years. She married John R. Jake Jacobson on December 20, 1944; he passed away on November 26, 1995. Dorothy served as Food Service Manager at the Adams Central High School and then at the Hastings Central Community College until retiring in 1985. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and one brother George.
