Hastings resident, Dorothy E. Heath, 86 passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village, Hastings-Village. Services will be Thursday, September 23. 2010 at 10 AM at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Alan W. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Dorothy was born May 13, 1924 to George T. and Elizabeth (Bostock) Bird in Ayr, NE. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1942. She married Merle M. Heath on July 29, 1951, at the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE. He passed away December 8, 1977. She had lived in the Hastings area most of her life coming from Ayr, NE. She retired as a cook at Walgreens in Hastings, NE. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings NE, and was a Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteer. She is survived by one son Tom Heath of Phoenix, AZ, and two daughters, Cindi Heath and Debbie Ellingson and husband Dennis all of Hastings, NE. 4 grandchildren, Melissa Stafford, of Cheyenne, WY, Jason Heath, and Katie Ellingson both of Hastings, NE and Brandi Heath of LasVegas, NV, and one great grandson, Ty Heath, and one sister Velma Schwartzkopf of Hastings, NE and one sister-in-law, Marybelle Bird of Hastings, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Merle M. Heath, one infant son and one brother Don Bird and one sister Doris Sittner. Memorials may be given to the Mary Lanning Hospice, the Good Samaritan Village or the First United Methodist Building Fund all in Hastings, NE.
