Kenesaw resident, Dorlene M. Hunt, 91, passed away, Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home after a long battle with cancer. Services will be Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Kenesaw Presbyterian Church, Kenesaw, NE with the Rev. Beth Fotinos officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery, Kenesaw, NE. Visitation will be Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 12 noon to 6 PM and Monday, May 23, 2011 from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family present from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home, Kenesaw, NE and one hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Dorlene was born November 2, 1919 to Albert and Anna Mathilda (Nodland) Ruebsamen on a farm near Harvard, NE. She attended District 74 country school, grades 1 thru 8; she graduated from the Harvard High School in 1937. She graduated from Kearney College with a teachers certificate and then taught at various country schools for 6 years. On June 14, 1941 she married Vernon Hunt of Kenesaw, NE. They lived in Yuma, AZ while he was in the United States Army Air Force, they then moved to Kenesaw in 1948. Dorlene loved to cook and cooked for the Kenesaw Public Schools for 21 years. She was a member of the Kenesaw Presbyterian Church and she taught Sunday school and Bible School and was active in womans meetings, Presbyterian committees, Church Synod and General Assembly. She was the Clerk of Session for 30 years. Dorlene was a 4-H Leader and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and delivered Meals on Wheels for 16 years. She was also a member of the Adams County Extension Clubs. She loved to travel to visit family and friends and everyone was always welcome in her home. She is survived by two daughters, Lois Shurter, of Hastings, NE, and Donna Parr and husband Merle of Roseland, NE, 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, an identical twin sister, Dorothy Chaney of Giltner, NE and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon, one sister, Lucile Dangler and one great grandson, Justin Shurter. Memorials may be given to the Kenesaw Presbyterian Church, Kenesaw, NE or the family.
