Hastings resident, Dean A. Dunn, 87, passed away, Friday, April 22, 2011 at his home. Services will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings, NE with Rev. Steven Peeler officiating. Graveside services will be Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2 PM at the Westlawn- Hillcrest Cemetery, in Omaha, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5 PM to 9 PM with the family present from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE and one hour prior to service time in the chapel. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Dean was born February 5, 1924 to Marion Allen and Hattie Bell (Morton) Dunn in Alma, NE. He served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Smith DD 378 from September 12, 1942 to July 27, 1944. He married Doris Andreasen on April 17, 1946; she passed away August 13, 1994. He married Dorrit Nielsen , on May 6, 1995. He had lived in the Hastings area since 1995 coming from Omaha, NE. Dean worked as a parts manager for Sidles Distributing, in Omaha, NE. Dean attended the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, ELCA, in Hastings, NE. He was a lifetime member of the DAV Club and the VFW both in Hastings, NE. Dean enjoyed his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Chicago Bears on TV. He is survived by his wife Dorrit of Hastings, NE, two sons, Chuck Dunn and Bob Dunn both of Omaha, NE, two daughters, Judy Stafford of Trumbull, NE and Kelly Lengyel of Omaha, NE, and three step-daughters, Cindy Kinney of Hastings, NE, Linda Newhouse of Evans, GA, and Terri Powers of Lincoln, NE, 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, an infant daughter, Barbara Jean Dunn, one son, Michael Dunn, one granddaughter, Sarah Rose Dunn, one grandson, Dustin Kinney, and 10 brothers and sisters. Memorials may be given to the family.
