David Lee Brabander

David Lee Brabander, 70, of Grand Island, Nebraska died on June 27, 2017 at his home. Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. A Private Inurnment will be in Westlawn Memorial Cemetery.



He was born on May 1, 1947 at Grand Island, NE to Walter Brabander and Eva Mulligan Brabander. He grew up in Grand Island and received his education at Grand Island Public Schools. He entered the U. S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam Era. He was united in marriage to Rena A. Bourdeau on September 29, 1970 at McGuire Air Force Base Chapel. After which the couple lived in Burlington County New Jersey where he was employed by the U.S. Air Force. He also lived in Grand Island, NE and was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. After his retirement from the railroad, he was employed by the Grand Island Central Rehabilitation Clinic.



He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society, the American Legion and the Saddle Club. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid golfer.



Survivors include his son, Adam Lee Brabander of Wisilla, AK. Grandson, David Thomas Branbander of Wasilla, AK, granddaughter, Brittany Rae Hunnings of Wasilla, AK and Great Granddaughter Alyssa Rose Hunnings of Wasilla, AK. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Trampe of Grand Island, NE and brother-in-law Ronald Trampe of Grand Island, NE., as well as many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Brabander and his father and step-mother, Walter and Neva Brabander.
