David Lee Argent

David L. Argent, 66, of Cairo died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his home in Cairo.



Services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Cairo United Methodist Church in Cairo with Rev Cathryn Love officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Cairo. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 pm at the church in Cairo. Memorials are suggested to the family who will designate. Apfel Funeral Home is serving the family.



David was born on June 30, 1950 at Grand Island, the son of Anthony and Elsie (Stutzman) Argent. He was raised by his mother and LeRoy Brown. David grew up in Cairo and attended Cairo Elementary and Centura High School.



David married Bev Swanson in 1972. David worked at Spelts Schultz Lumber and Turner Grain in Cairo. He also owned and operated his own lawn care business. He married Kathleen Eriksen on May 15, 1986. David worked for the Hall County Roads Department and he was currently employed at Nebraska Petroleum at the time of his death.



David was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, former member of the Cairo Fire Dipartment where he was a CPR instructor, he was on the Cairo Town Board, and was instrumental in getting the fire hall built in Cairo.



David enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening, race cars, he was a roller coaster enthusiast, but mostly he enjoyed his family.



Survivors include his three sons, Trevor Sorensen of Cairo, Kyle Argent of Cairo, and Brandon Fuller of Chandler, AZ, two daughters, Ann Sorensen of Houston, TX, and Maggie Argent of Grand Island, sisters Connie and Roger Van Bibber of Boelus, Penny Richardson of Redwood City, CA, brother Jerry Gakin of El Frieda, AZ , a brother-in-law Francis Johnson of Cairo, as well as a special friend Cathy Neville of Cairo and her family, Mariah and Michael Nevelle, Tonya Suiz, Cody, Sierra and Cassie Nevelle, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.



Preceded in death by his parents, a brother LeRoy Brown Jr, and a sister Shirley Johnson.
