Darle G. Martin

Hastings resident, Darle G. Martin, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society.



Celebration of Life will be Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 1 pm at the DAV Club in Hastings, NE. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.



Darle was born October 11, 1926 in Hastings, to Albert and Hazel (Wisker) Martin. He attended Hastings Public Schools. On December 1944 he was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he did his basic training at Camp Wolters, Texas, and He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater on Okinawa and Korea. He received the Good Conduct Metal, Asiatic Pacific Campion Metal, World War II Victory Metal and Army Occupation Metal. On December 1946 he was Honorably Discharged at Camp Beal, CA.



He married Lavada Pat Schmidt on August 21, 1952 at Yankton, SD. They had 2 children, Patricia and Kenneth. He was a truck driver for Pick-Pak Hauling for many years; he was also a heavy equipment operator, mechanic and welder.



He is survived by children Patricia and Kenneth, one sister, Arlynn Gartner of Colorado Springs, CO, one brother, Donovan of Grand Junction, CO, three grandchildren, Jessica, Cody and Martin, four great grandchildren, Clinton, Darcy, Josephine and Mabel.



He was preceded in death by his parents his wife Lavada, and two sister and Gwen Hadley and Helen Katzberg.
