Harvard resident, Daniel W. Magner, 61, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, NE. Services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Evangelical Free Church, Hastings, NE with the Rev. Matt Sass officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings, NE. Visitation will be Monday, November 26, 2007 from 5 PM to 9 PM at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Hastings, NE and 1 hour prior to service time at the church. Condolences may be sent to www.brandwilson.com. Dan was born, November 19, 1946 to Oliver and Priscilla (Hollinger) Magner in Hastings, NE. He graduated from Hastings Senior High, in 1965. He attended Hastings College and graduated from Central Community College with a degree in Auto Mechanics and Drafting.He married Judy Clancy, on June 14, 1968 in Hastings, NE.He worked for the City of Hastings, in the Engineering Dept for 23 years as an Engineering Assistant. He lived in the Hastings area most of his life. He was a long time member of the Knights of Pythias, and he held several positions in the Supreme Lodge. He attended the Evangelical Free Church. He also was a bass player and vocalist for Larry Magner and the Countrymen and several other bands. He was a stock car driver at the Hastings Raceway for many years and he later became a back up driver for Dale Earnhardt for 3 years. He later managed the Red Cloud Speed Bowl for several years. He is survived by his wife Judy of Harvard, NE, 2 daughters, Angila Bates and husband Tim of Hastings, NE, Amy Hoppes and husband Troy of Spearfish, South Dakota, 4 Grandchildren, Mariah and Michael Bates, and Robert and Cora Hoppes. 3 sisters, Jackie Huxoll of Arapahoe, NE, Tami Coffin and Tricia Kuszak both of Loup City, NE, 4 brothers, Ron Magner of McCook, NE, Rick Lespreance of Lincoln, NE, Cal Magner of Pleasanton, NE, and Cory Spotanski of Lexington, NE, and step-mother, Marj Spotanski of Loup City, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Wayne Tootie and Larry Magner. Memorials may be given the family.
