Daniel L. Bruns, 55, of Doniphan died Thursday, November 20, 2014, at the University Of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha surrounded by his family.



Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Those in attendance are asked to honor Dannys memory by wearing jeans, t-shirts and/or camouflage. Cremation will take place following the funeral services.



Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 25, at the Apfel Funeral Home.



Memorials are suggested to the family.



Daniel Lee Bruns was born February 23, 1959, at Grand Island to Darwin and Lucille (Wichern) Bruns. He grew up and received his education in Wood River.



Danny married Renae Hamilton on September 26, 1981, at Grand Island. The couple made their home in Doniphan where Danny was employed at Golden Harvest and later worked for Chief Industries.



In his leisure time, Danny enjoyed fishing, hunting or just being in the outdoors. He loved being a grandpa, and was known to find enjoyment in teasing family and friends.



He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks.



Survivors include a daughter and daughter-in-law, Melanie Bruns and Mandy Rollins; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Amy Bruns; a daughter, Emilee Bruns; his ex-wife and friend, Renae Bruns; and five grandchildren, Olivia, Brielle, Tyce, Kree and Jaxsyn.



He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
