Craig J. Vipond

February 10, 1951 — March 13, 2022

Craig J. Vipond, one of the most amazing humans to walk this earth, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 in Grand Island, NE. He left this world quickly, just as he would have wanted.

Craig lived a happy and full life with many close friends and family. He was one of seven children born to Jim and Dolores Vipond. Craig was born in Pickstown, South Dakota and moved to Omaha, NE, graduating from Westside High School where he enjoyed basketball, football and golf. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married his beautiful bride, Roxanne, on October 23, 1971. They moved to Grand Island in 1980 and had four next-to-perfect children: Jeff (JT), Denise (Doe-Niece), Stefanie (Stef-A-Roni), and Steven (Bunza Boy). Craig had a successful career managing a siding supply company. He also worked for the Chamber of Commerce, and was a licensed real estate appraiser. Many years of love and laughter was had with Craig playing games with his kids and grandchildren, constantly telling jokes, playing backyard football, taking long Sunday drives, eating ice cream, giving goodnight hugs, and spending time with friends. He loved life and it showed. He also was a great advocate of individuals with disabilities.

Craig is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roxanne Vipond and his children, Jeff and Amy Vipond, Dan and Denise (Vipond) Carnahan, Brian and Stefanie (Vipond) Ervin, and Steven Vipond, along with his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters Jean Vipond, Mary Ann Armstrong, and his brothers Bob Vipond, Kent Vipond, Pat Vipond, and Mark Vipond and their spouses. He is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Dolores Vipond, most likely enjoying a grand reunion. Craig is also preceded in death by some of his close friends, with whom he is most likely golfing with right now.

Craig was a man who lived his life how he wanted to, surrounded by many friends and family. He is remembered by his infectious optimism, warmth, and love of life. He worked hard every chance he had and never complained. He enjoyed golfing, going to sporting events, good music, good movies, and anything related to his family. The world’s greatest husband, father and grandfather will be greatly missed every single day.
