Connie Lou Bittfield

Kenesaw resident, Connie Lou Bittfield 73, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home.



Services will be Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kenesaw with Rev. Paul Duffy officiating. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw. Apfel Funeral Home, Kenesaw is in care of the family. Connie’s wishes were for memorials to be given to Kenesaw Educational Fund, St Paul’s Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund or the Kenesaw Museum instead of flowers.



Connie was born April 25, 1945 to Edwin and Lucile (Wolfe) Bittfield in Hastings. She was baptized, May 13, 1945 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, and was confirmed there on March 22, 1959. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1963 and then from Bryan Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln in 1967. She worked in the operating room at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and in Estes Park, CO, from 1970 till retirement in 2003. She worked at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings and their school of nursing. She received a BS and MS from Kearney State College.



She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, serving the church in various educational capacities. She was a long-time member of Fanel Aorn Nln nursing organization. Active in various Kenesaw projects, a member of Kenesaw Booster Club and Adams Co Historical Society. Connie was a long time CPR instructor for the American Heart Association.



She is survived by her brother Gary (Betty) Bittfield of Kenesaw and nephew Ben (Lindsay) Bittfield of Kansas City, and 2 great nephews, Miles and Nash.



She was preceded in death by her parents.
