Clarice A. Ward

Clarice “Katie” Anne Ward, 86, of Grand Island, died Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Grand Island Veterans Home. Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Grand Island Veterans Chapel with Pastor Jeff McKearney officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Gering, NE. Clarice was born November 16, 1931, to Cranston and Fannie (Bond) Barrett in Courtland, KS. She graduated from Windom High School in Kansas. Katie was united in marriage to Raymond L. Ward on July 4, 1953, in Florence, KS. Katie was a military wife from 1954-1974. She enjoyed reading Christian books, playing Bingo, and doing ceramics.

Survivors include children: Cheryl (Merle) Mendenhall of Grand Island,NE, Cynthia Cushing of Scottsbluff, NE, Marcia (Scott) Moore of Gering, NE, Ray Ward of Lincoln, NE; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Katie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister: Virleen Bailey.
