Byron Wayne Holl, 65, of Minden passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 6, 2013. Born in Hastings, Nebraska January 14, 1947 to Lorenz and Mary Holl he lived most of his life in the Shelton and Minden area. Byron was very proud of his children and grandchildren, Leah Jones of Des Moines, Iowa, and her children, Jori, Nathaniel, Gabriella and Avi, Hannah Rogers of Des Moines, her husband, Will, and daughter Ariella, Keren Fiorenza of Chicago, and her husband, Joseph and son Aaron, Isaiah Holl of St. Paul, Minnesota., Jedidiah Holl of Des Moines, and his wife, Kathleen, Hadassah Holl of Des Moines, Havvah Holl of Chicago, Vered Holl and her husband, Blake, of Davenport, Iowa, and Shoshanah Holl of Des Moines. He is survived by brothers, Paul Holl of Gibbon, Carroll Holl of Grangeville, Idaho, Loren Holl of Kenesaw and sister, Bonnie Holl of North Platte. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith, and parents, Lorenz and Mary Holl. Byron joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and later attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he studied electronics. He met his wife, Judith, while working in Brighton, Colorado and they were married November 4, 1972. A year later the couple made their home in Gibbon. A very active member of the community, Byron was one of the founders of Shanan Academy. He and Judith also devoted much of their time to their company, Hollman Foods, and Nebraska's small business community. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am Thursday, January 10th at Apfel Funeral Home, 411 West 11th Street, Wood River. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nebraska State Stroke Association http://www.nebraskastroke.org/
