Bonnie L. Chamberlain

December 17, 1939 — April 6, 2016

Hastings resident, Bonnie L. Chamberlain, 76, passed away, Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings.



Services will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at First St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Monday, April 11, 2016 from 4 PM to 8 PM with the family present from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Apfel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be given to First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Hastings.



Bonnie was born, December 17, 1939 in Hastings, NE to Delmar Dale and Cleo Z. (Wilkie) Albers. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1958 then she attended Mary Lanning School of Nursing, Hastings graduating as a RN in 1961. She married Ronald L. Chamberlain on February 10, 1962 in Hastings. Bonnie worked at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare for 4 years, Hastings Regional Center in the Psych Unit for 11 years, South Central Behavior Services/Opportunity House for 20 plus years and 5 years at Haven Home in Kenesaw.



She was a member of First St. Pauls Lutheran Church, was on the Respite Care Board, was Woman of the Year, on the City Council for 6 years, she was President of the State Planning and Zoning Board, a member of Head Start and the Pantry Board. Her hobbies included a collector of Christmas decorations and Bedford Dolls. Bonnie also loved to go camping, fishing and boating and she and Ron were members of the Grand Island Boat and Camper Club.



She is survived by her husband Ron, her son, James Dale Chamberlain and wife Elizabeth and one grandson, Luke James all of Hastings, and one sister, Rose Marie Henrickson and husband Wes of Juniata, NE.



She was preceded in death by her parents.
