Hastings resident, Bobby Lee Poore, 81, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Mary Lanning HealthCare, Hastings, surrounded by family.



Memorial service will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 3 PM at the Apfel Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Hastings. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com. Apfel Funeral Home, Hastings is in care of the family.



Bobby was born May 26, 1938 to Delbert and Marie (Smith) Poore in Kenesaw, NE.

He was a jack of all trades. He had a tree cutting business, was on a harvest crew and traveled through out the United States and Canada, he was also a police officer on the Hastings Police Department. He was a laborer for American Playworld, and owned a bar in Kenesaw called Poore’s Bar and Grill, he retired from the Hastings Equity Grain Bin.



Bobby’s hobbies were, fishing at the Harlan County Reservoir and he took a lot of pride in his large family. He was a beloved patron at the Hastings Keno Sports Bar and Grill. He was fondly known and “Candy Man” as he would carry around lifesavers and hand them out. Bobby had a zest for life and a great sense of humor. He was the type of person that never met a stranger.



He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Carol (Menze) Poore, three daughters Pamela Erickson, Arlene Poore and Vanessa Bright, and 2 step children, Stacy Becker and Todd Menze, 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Erickson, Jason Erickson, Angie Small, Jeffery Erickson, Chuck Giger, Cindy Kolle, Carla Mayhew, Tanner Vallejo, Jessica Bright and Timothy Bright, 6 step-grandchildren, Briana Becker, Brooke Becker, Blake Becker, Joshua Menze, Jordan Menze and Mazey Menze, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 older siblings and ex wife Deloris Jean Hoagland.



Bobby was one of a kind who truly will be missed by all who knew and loved him, “We love you more.”
