Benny E. Thayer

Hastings resident Benny E. Thayer, 81, of 1013 Jefferson, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Omaha Veterans Hospital, Omaha, NE. Graveside service will be Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 2 PM at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE with military rites. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2008 from 9 AM to 12 noon at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation, Hastings, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Benny was born February 25, 1926 to John Howard and Ida May (Otto) Thayer in Hastings, NE. He served in the Navy from May 20, 1944 to November 16, 1946 during WWII. He had lived in Hastings all his life and enjoyed attending the Fonner Park Horse Races. He is survived by 1 brother Warren D. Thayer and wife Ellen of Medford, Oregon and nieces and nephews, Allan Thayer of Medford, Oregon, Lucille Braska of Grand Island, NE, Peggy Mueller of Fort Knox, Kentucky, Genevieve Hastings, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Judy Sondrup of Genoa, Nebraska, Doretha Luthy of Phillips, Nebraska, Kenny Maret of Grand Island, NE, and Keith Hovermale of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Elmer, 3 sisters, Cora Maret, Viola Hovermale and Doris Myers.
