Barbara Lee Kreutz

At our Alberding-Wilson Location, Harvard, NE. Harvard resident, Barbara Lee Kreutz, 77, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Harvard Rest Haven. Harvard, NE. Graveside service will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:30 at the Harvard Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Joy officiating. There will be no visitation the body was cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.brandwilson.com. Barbara was born September 17, 1931, the youngest daughter of Rolland H. and Mamie (Wilson) in Giltner, NE. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1949. She received her B.S. in Home Economics from UNL in 1953, her M.S. in Home Economics from Iowa State in 1960 and her Ph. D. in Family Ecology from Michigan State in 1974. Barbara spent her career devoted to education. She began her journey at Grundy Center High School in Grundy Center, Iowa as a Home Economics Teacher and Supervisor of Student Teachers. She served as an Agriculture Extention Specialist at both Iowa State and the University of Nebraska. She fulfilled roles as Teaching Assistant at Michigan State and the University of Missouri. Barbara retired and returned to Nebraska in 1996 after 18 years as an Assistant Professor of Family and Consumer Economics at Indiana State University. Barbara will be remembered for her wry sense of humor, advanced vocabulary and inimitable diction. Barbara loved to visit about the economy, politics and current world issues. She enjoyed travel abroad in her younger years and was very proud of her family and heritage. She is survived by 1 sister, Shirley (Millard) Kreutz-Bennett of Lincoln, NE. 1 brother-in-law, George (Betty) Crowther of Palmer, Alaska and 1 sister-in-law, Judy (Phillip) Kreutz of Giltner, NE, 5 nephews and 2 nieces. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Roger Kreutz and Phillip Kreutz and 1 sister, Betty (Kreutz) Crowtherand 1 sister in law, Marilyn (Roger) Kreutz.
